Flower Care

LOVE FOR FLOWERS

If you are reading this literature, it is enough for us to understand that you are a flower lover. You enjoy the freshness of flowers around you and you would want your flowers to remain fresh for the longest possible period.
5 Factors affecting the life of the flowers:
  1. Water Quality: Flowers last longer, if the water is slightly acidic. While tap water is almost neutral, acidity can be obtained by adding the commercial floral preservatives.
  2. Temperature: Keeping flowers in a cooler environment slows down their respiration process and reduces the rate of deterioration. Flowers should be kept away from electronic gadgets as they emit heat and also from direct sunlight.
  3. Cleanliness of the Vase: Flowers will long much longer if the vase is regularly disinfected and the water is changed when it turns milky.
  4. Flower Nutrition: Flower food is a nutrient supplement for harvested flowers that help the continuation of the flower development process thereby increasing the shelf life of the cut flowers.
  5. Ethylene Gas: Old, wilting flowers and fruit release ethylene gas which causes rapid wilting, color fading, blossom drop, bloom shattering, and the early death of cut flowers. Keeping old flowers with fresh ones will result in early deterioration.

Handling of Flowers:

Once you receive the weekly flower bunch, follow the following steps:
  1. Unwrap the flowers.
  2. Snip two inches of the stems at 45 degree angle under the running water and clear the foliages on the stem.
  3. Fill your vase with 3 to 4 inches of water and add the flower food ( delivered with every bunch).
  4. Place the flowers in the vase away from sunlight and the coolest possible spot.
  5. Change the water in 2-3 days when you see water turning milky. Repeat steps 2 to 3.
